skunkrocker has a difficult choice to make. His roommates are being thrown out of the apartment complex where they live because they're gay. (Tennessee law permits this kind of discrimination. skunkrocker is straight, just his roommates are gay.) He has chosen to move out with them to a different building with a more tolerant landlord. The problem is his lease; to move, he'll have to buy out of it. He figures the rest of the lease, plus utilities in arrears, plus "repairs," plus moving costs will come to about $3,000. Without roommates he can't afford to stay in the homophobe apartment, never mind move.
