I woke up to the sound of someone knocking on my door. I was curled up on the couch and my laptop was still on. Thank god it was plugged in the charger. I got up and stretched my back with a few cracks then slowly made my way to the door. I opened it to find Proxy. The sun was kinda hurting my eyes but I knew it was her by her scent.
“Hey, Proxy. Isn’t it a little early?” I said with a yawn.
“Don’t even start with me Molly!” She practically yelled. That woke me up and my eyes soon adjusted to see a very pissed off Proxy.
“Oh shit what did I do?” I said and boy did that not make things better.
“What did you do? Well let’s see, shall we? You didn’t answer your phone after I texted you back, You were at The Pit with some rabbit! A friend of mine saw you! But I didn’t believe him so I drove to see if it was true only to find you and this rabbit kiss!!” She yelled in anger and her tail puffed up. Yeah she was definitely not a happy camper. I don’t blame her though. If I saw what she did, I would be mad too.
“Okay, my phone died so I couldn’t text back, The rabbit is a girl from my art class named Jenna and she invited me to have dinner with her, and finally, she kissed me I didn’t kiss her back and made it very clear I wasn’t interested because I had you.”
“Molly...Give me a good reason why I should believe you.” She said almost in tears. I could tell her that she should believe because it was true but knowing Proxy she would scoff and walk away. I might as well breakup with her now if I were to say that. I could say that she should believe me because she loves me and love without trust is nothing but that can go south fast. Why is this so hard?
“You should believe me because...because I wasn’t denying that I went out with Jenna and I even told you her name which meant I wasn’t keeping her a secret.” I said and Proxy took a long pause. I was scared that she wouldn’t believe me and also scared that she would leave me. But I wasn’t scared of telling her the truth. Why can’t she see that?
“I’m sorry Molly. I think it’s best if we….I think it’s best if I don’t see you anymore.” As she said that my heart slowly shattered. She then tried to hold back her tears which only made me hurt more.
“So what does this mean, Proxy? Are we really done?” I said studying her. She looked at me and nodded then walked away without a word.
“Proxy!” I called out to her. But she didn’t even flinch. I watched her walk away till she was out of my sight. I closed my door and leaned on it then slowly slid to the floor.
“Proxy.” I said before the tears rolled down my cheeks. I fucked up but I didn’t cheat. Did I? Oh Proxy, if only you knew what really happened. If only you were there my sweet Proxy.
