  • Link

Hey guy, you still streaming on Picarto? I don't think I've gotten a notice in a while -- since like November!

    • Link

I'm on an extended stream vacation - trying other things at the moment, but I expect to return once I figure out a circumstance that works best for me. :)

  • Link

I meant to say this earlier (or I put off saying it earlier), but thanks for following!

  • Link

I hate myself for not seeing your account before. It's just awesome!

    • Link

Best kept secret on the internet!

  • Link

Saw your game at FurPocalypse. :D

    • Link

Oh good, at least someone saw it. :D

  • Link

Cool seeing someone taking up Walt Kelly's banner.

    • Link

I really missed golden-age funny animals badly one day back in 2013, and the rest is history.

  • Link

Thanks for the watch back my favorite crocodilian :D

    • Link

Can't wait to see more. :)

      • Link

Hopefully you will when my headache leave :3

        Same to you

  • Link

Aw yeah! Thanks for the watchback! :D

    • Link

Your cloth sculptures are awesome. It'd be diminishing to call them mere dolls (though they are adorable). :)

  • Link

I think your comic style is really cool actually! :D

    • Link

Thanks. Now you probably know why I loathe crosshatching - it is hard to bucket-color on 1-bitplane drawings.

      • Link

I see fair enough, I just love actually doing it. Especially when I'm in a bad mood I can just really go for it on paper.

What is bucket-color on 1-bitplane drawings? I haven't heard someone use that before?

        • Link

It's a bit of carry-over from the days (late 80's to early 90s) when pixel editing programs had a limited color set, usually between 16 to 32. I'd scan in art in strict black and white and color the carefully closed interiors with fills. Crosshatching is very unfriendly to that style of coloring since the color can't bleed into the boxes. Nowadays, you'd just place color on a layer and not nitpick as much, but I kinda like the absolutes you get that way.

          • Link

I see that makes sense. I think cross hatching is shading on it's own though. So I never colour area's I have cross hatched. Sometimes I will do some parts in colour and some cross hatched to experiment. However for me I mainly use it for black and white works.

I also do everything traditionally, expect for some of the backgrounds. I am actually really clueless about digital art, which is probably why i didn't get what you meant.

            • Link

This is -very- true. Black & White effects shading is often dulled by colors. I noticed that in my outlined weighted line stuff that adding color stole some of the punch, so I tend to use flat spans of desaturated, faded colors, which is in keeping with old newspaper coloration.

              • Link

I see that is fair enough. Mind you I had an odd thing were I found adding my weighted lines gave my coloured work more punch and that is when I became much happier with my art style as a whole.

                • Link

I recall when I finally figured out how to properly compose an image with various line weights, that was when I said to myself it was time to become a cartoonist. I chronicled that here.

                  http://gonechoo.tumblr.com/post/87619318012/drawing-technique-in-gon-e-choo

                  • Link

I see that is cool. I am less precise then that and prefer just to just go for it and I am often going over the lines more than once to vary the thickness. However I get so much enjoyment doing it that way.

Thank you very much for that follow! It means a lot to me. I'll try to use this summer to draw more comics~ My life is pretty silly sometimes, and I gotta show the world!

Appreciate talking with you and love your work

  • Link

    I can't access your stream! :c

    • Link

I am unsure why. Furstream did have some bugs earlier in the evening with connectivity. Did the chat work?

      • Link

Ah, it was the presence of a forward slash after the url. Should work now.

  • Link

Really liked your stream. Sorry I couldn't stay too long, it was during work hours.

    • Link

Chances are pretty good this will be a semi-regular thing as (A) the ability to do streams seems to be pretty much a given now and (B) I enjoyed doing them. I didn't see any deterioration in my quality and only a mild impact on my speed. I'm imagining Thursdays and Sundays are going to be primary stream territories, but I might also target Thursdays and Saturdays depending. Thanks for coming for what little time you could!

  • Link

That really is a journey into the mists of time. Thanks for keeping up all these years!

    • Link

No problem! Just keep on doing the things you do. :D

  • Link

    Both of course!

  • Link

Your work is fun and intelligent. I'll stay around as long as you don't confuse me with said 80's era otter. :-p

    • Link

Do you mean the era-specific references of the otter's time, or the character's 'far-side'-like comics? ;)

  • Link

    HALLO TO YOU TOO!

    • Link

WHO LEFF DIS KAT HE-YUH? Guess it be MAHN nauw. (nibbles on)

        hehehehe >w<

  • Link

You're coming out with comics quite frequently. ^_^ These make me smile, every one of them.

    • Link

The schedule's been consistently late Thursdays and Sundays on http://www.gonechoo.com with me posting the previous comic here about the same time. I noticed you follow on tumblr, which is the fastest way to get the latest comic. I'm glad you're enjoying it!

      • Link

I like the comic, but on the most engaging thing about your tumblr is the commentary. I really enjoy reading about the process and thought that goes into things. It's one thing to see the finished project, but it takes on whole new dimensions when you can read about what goes into it.

  • Link

I can't remember if I thanked you for following me or not but... thank you so much! Every follower means so much to me <3
